Dear Church Family,

With the growing global concerns around COVID-19 (coronavirus), we know these are difficult times and can only imagine the weight this uncertainty has imposed upon you, our church family and communities.

The WECA and Engage Network is driven by our mission to follow Jesus one step at a time. We are here to walk beside you in this uncertainty and continue to focus on Jesus through this season.

We share your concerns and would like to underline our commitment to the safety and well-being of our church family, volunteers, and our employees. This is a constantly evolving situation, and we continue to work united with the city and provincial health officials to ensure we alter our practices of procedures to reflect the latest information available.

We can appreciate that you may have some questions and we wanted to provide you with an update.

  • To promote social distancing as per the Government of Alberta’s recommendation and to keep you and your family healthy, and the community safer – ALL life groups, facility rentals, and events held at our location(s) will be postponed for a minimum of two weeks. Please contact your life group leaders or event coordinator for any of your questions. We will be updating you the best way we can as things are announced by the province and city.
  • Our building will still be open for now: Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is for one on one meetings. Pastoral care, and office procedures. Please note our staff is able to flex their availability here on the main campus, so emailing or calling ahead maybe best for you to connect with them.
  •  To help the health service community, we are having a blood drive here in the gym on March 24, 2020, at 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Alberta Health states it is safe to give blood that could help aid people that may need it. You can book a time here.

The health of you and our staff is one of our priorities to limit the spread of COVID-19. Alberta Health Services has a self-assessment tool to help you determine whether you need to be tested for COVID-19.

We are working on creating and implementing tools and resources for everyone to utilize in this time of social distancing, but coming together as a community via online.

Future updates and information will be posted on our website as well as our Facebook and Instagram: @wecachurch. We will have update videos throughout this season. Here is today’s video: COVID-19 Update.

We will be having daily emails with online programming, scripture verses, how to reach out for any needs you may have or to volunteer (grocery and prescription, counselling, etc). If you would like these emails please sign up here.

We do have a weekly bulletin that goes out once a week, but it will be on pause as our programs are all postponed for now. If you would like to be kept in the loop, please sign up here.

This email that you are reading is to make sure we have connected with everyone that has connected with WECA. Going forward you will only receive an email if you sign up for the Daily Connection emails or the Weekly Bulletin, or both.

Thank you for your continued prayers and grace during this difficult time as we work together to follow Jesus one step at a time.

Walking with you,

Pastor Brett Esslinger
